Valentine’s Day, in my opinion, is one of the most fun holidays.
It revolves around the color pink, chocolate and flowers. What is not to love in this equation?

Today I put together a list of gift ideas (send the link to your special someone ūüėČ ) that are perfect for you, your best friend, your mom–any woman who would enjoy a little¬†something fun and pretty. Most of these options are under $30, a couple are splurge pieces–but hey, you might just be in the mood to spoil yourself.

Changes for the Wellesley Girl

Hello everyone!

It’s almost that time! In case you missed my first update, check it out here.

This¬†Friday, the blog will officially move to its new location and new content¬†will no longer be posted to¬†this site–save for a few periodic posts with a reminder and link to the new site location.

I have so loved writing for you all and receiving your comments throughout my first year of blogging. I have learned an incredible amount over the last year, and I am very excited to see what I can learn in the year ahead.  I sincerely hope that you decide to make the move along with me, and see what we can learn together!

I can’t wait to share it with you!

Date Night: J.Crew Cap-sleeve Shirttail Blouse

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and I’ve been inspired by the holiday in this poppy red¬†J.Crew cap-sleeve shirttail blouse (currently on sale for under $50). I first tried this blouse in¬†the regular size in 00, but found it much too big and exchanged it for the petite version. This blouse is super lightweight and comfortable, with a loose-fitting feel. I also really like the seam running down the middle for an unexpected detail. The¬†pop of the dark poppy color was a new and welcome addition to my closet, but it also comes in neutrals like black, snow (ivory) and navy.

Though this is a date night look, it would also pair¬†well tucked into¬†a pencil skirt or with trousers for work. And for a more summery feel, it would also look great with¬†some¬†crisp white jeans and a neutral heeled¬†sandal (it’s never too soon to be thinking of summer and warmer weather, right?).

Inspiration: Superbowl Party Food

superbowl

Happy Saturday, everyone! In honor of tomorrow night’s football game, I decided to share a few recipes that would be great for hosting your own Superbowl party. If you’ve just started following along with me, then you may not know that I am married to possibly one of the world’s biggest Patriots fans (see my post here). My husband has been looking forward to this game for the last two weeks (yes, listening to the deflated ball talk all along the way) and we will definitely be watching over some good food.

Football games tend to be filled with lots of greasy, high in calorie, high in fat foods. While I’ll be the first to admit that I am no stranger to indulging in these foods, Arnie and I have really been trying to be healthier–balancing out our indulgences with healthier alternatives.

For this reason, I put together two lists: one with four options of “splurge” recipes, and one with four options of guiltless options. If you will be cooking, maybe you’ll find some game day¬†inspiration to try for yourself. Be sure to balance out your splurges with healthy options, too!

Multicolor Houndstooth Coat

Plaid Statement Coat Plaid Statement Coat Plaid Statement Coat

This was a look I put together for a girls day brunch a few weekends back. I really love the look of this multi-colored houndstooth peacoat, purchased at the Banana Republic Factory store (last worn here). Houndstooth has certainly been around for many years, and I do consider it a classic. I like the size of the print on this coat, as I can find larger versions of it somewhat¬†overwhelming.¬†The mix of colors, including black and various shades of brown,¬†makes it a really neutral piece–great for the office or a casual ensemble like this weekend look.

For more current and trendy versions, I love this BOSS HUGO BOSS cape version at Saks right now (on sale for $150) and this version from Mango under $60. For a similar classic option, try this one from Nordstrom, also under $60.
